Now for the rest of the coverage from last Friday's Omega Circuit Free Run in Tsukuba. As I said in the previous post, the AE86 drivers were out in force for this event. Check out the Levin from Custom Garage SPEED pictured above.
The low offset RS Watanabe + meaty S-tire look gets me every time.
This time attack special S15 belongs to "Under" Suzuki who posts on the JDM-Option blog. Lap times were just over the one minute mark.
He is in a quest to take down the Exceed Moat boys and their S14 Silvia's, which are currently being rebuilt. The March issue of Option 2 has a great article about their rivalry.
The Esperanza FD was back in action again at the Omega event. Early in the day the car had a spin into the dirt on the final corner. After some minor repairs to the front bumper, the car returned to the track in all of its flaming glory. Tarzan Yamada even took it for a few laps.
Another FD tuned by CAM.
Running hard through the first hairpin.
Newtype/Sexy Knights FD3S.
N2 Levin from Garage Tomita.
KP61 Starlet project.
This Mark II wagon was fast. I didn't get a chance to look under the hood but I think it was packing turbo power. Notice the 5 lug hub conversion with R33 GTR wheels up front.
Mean looking FC3S.
This is the most radical RNN14 Pulsar GTI-R that I have ever seen. Look at the size of the Advan RG II's hanging under the extreme aero work.
The vents where the rear windows used to be feed into a rear-mounted radiator set up.
The original SR20DET engine has been modified with a later model variable valve timing head from the SR20VE/SR16 VE engines.
On the back straight.
The lap times of this monster machine hung just over the one minute mark.
Lastly, the S30Z from Wood Village.
Purposeful flares to cover the ultra-wide wheels and Advan race rubber.
Under the hood you won't find any high tech turbo set-ups or an engine swap. You will find 3.1 liters of naturally aspirated L-series goodness.
The car's best lap time was 1:02.911, awesome for an NA L-series car.
One last shot of this beast.
